Wildfox Swim’s 2013 collection premiered the last day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami, but in a fairytale world, they could have sent the precedent for the entire week, at least regarding the show’s hyped energy and swagger. Inspired by a presumably very beautiful Bond girl, the models—laughing and waving and bumping butts the whole way down the catwalk—wore go-go boots, shiny wigs, and Union Jack and American Flag-print one-and-two-pieces in soft, faded pastel shades. Their take on the high-waist bottom was sweet (florals, stars), as were the classically Wildbox black one-pieces that read: “VACATION GET A TAN SWIM FOREVER MARGARITA.” The whole vibe was that of a 1960s sexy secret agent, one who finds herself in exotic locales and cheeky outfits—much like the traveling cowgirl of their last swimsuit collection. As co-designer Kim Gordon explains it: “This [line’s] story is about a very cool, smart, traveling Bond Girl. A spy.” Unexpected favorites: a star-print romper and jumbo-sized beach tote backpacks.
